He has devoted his entire career as a lawyer to the Family Law arena where he has developed an aptitude for understanding complex financial matters and arriving at creative and effective solutions. His clients enjoy direct, competent and commercially sound advice. He is both a highly skilled litigator and negotiator. He is also trained as a mediator and collaborative law practitioner. Jamie’s focus is on developing a unique solution for each client that meets the specific circumstances of that case and the particular needs of that client. He is opposed to a “one size fits all” mentality in the practice of Family Law.
Jamie has acted in some of the largest cases involved in the Family Court of Australia. He frequently works with leading senior counsel, forensic accountants and mediators in the Family Law jurisdiction. He has a particular focus on large financial cases, third party interest, equitable claims and disputes about financial non-disclosure. Most of his clients are individuals; however, he has advised or acted for public and private companies, trusts and other law firms in proceedings in the Family Court of Australia. He is regularly referred work by other leading family lawyers in Sydney, other states in Australia and internationally.
Jamie has acted for clients in relation to Family Law matters with connections to the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, New Zealand, United States of America, British Virgin Islands and Jersey. He is a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Jamie frequently provides advice in relation to international matters including choice of jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of Australian orders overseas, Hague Convention, property alteration, child support and relocation.
Jamie has an extensive technical grasp of the Family Law Rules, the Family Law Act and the jurisprudence of the Family Court of Australia. He is a regular presenter at seminars for the benefit of other Family Law practitioners. He was a member of Host Committee for the 2014 National Family Law Conference and a founding member of the Central Sydney Collaborative Forum and Collaborative Professionals (NSW).
